Frequently Asked Questions

So you’ve decided to hire a tree service for your yard. Now what? How do you choose the right one? Here are some tips on how to select a company with whom you can establish a good working relationship. Read on and learn how to ask questions to ensure that you get only the best service.

You’ll want to know what kinds of services they offer, and who they’re aimed at. Find out if they provide organic services, and also if they will be able to handle any other types of jobs you need done around the home. Find out what kind of training they have, and whether or not their technicians have already undergone an apprenticeship program. Companies that do provide this apprenticeship program tend to be very reputable, and they tend to offer better pay and benefits.

Once you’ve selected your tree service provider, you’ll want to know what they do. Do they just fell the trees? Are they planting them? Or are they actually cutting them? After all, if they’re just falling them, they probably don’t have a lot of experience dealing with trees! Make sure that your tree service provider knows exactly which type of job they’re doing – whether it’s felling, planting or cutting.

Ask the tree service provider if they have any customer testimonials. If they don’t have any, you might question whether or not they’re providing a high quality service. Don’t be afraid to ask for customer references either. Many reputable tree services will provide references for you to contact. If not, then you should feel comfortable asking the following questions:

Find out how long each company has been in business. This is definitely a critical piece of information. If a tree service has only recently started in business, then you know they’re likely not all that experienced. If they’ve been in business for a while, though, then you can rest assured that they know their trees and can provide a quality service. Ask to see a schedule of their trees and to speak with their past customers.

Find out how long each company has been in business. How long have they been in existence? This is an important question, because it will tell you whether or not you’re dealing with a company that is growing and maturing. Look for a company that has been around for at least a few years. If you find one that is newer, but maintains a reputation of excellent customer service and responsible business practices, then you’ll probably want to consider dealing with them.

You might also want to ask your potential tree service provider how many trees they’ll be able to help you with. If they only have a few trees to cut and tend, then you’re wasting your time. It would be even more beneficial if the company you choose can handle any tree problems that you encounter. Ask if they have the appropriate resources to take care of a problem should it arise. If the answer is no, then you might want to find a different company.

You should also look at how customer service and the timeliness of the tree service vary from company to company. There are plenty of companies that advertise that they’ll be available at any time, but not all of them actually live up to this claim. To avoid having to deal with call center cuttings or having a dead branch fall on your roof, choose one that has regular hours and is easy to reach by phone. This will save you from having to work too much to get their attention.
